JOYO JTA-05 Sweet Baby - All Tube Compact Guitar Amplifier - 5 Watts

Simple Bedroom Blaster
Without doubt the best value 'all tube' amplifier on the market, the JOYO JTA- 05A is a perfect for the tube amp enthusiast that doest have the space, the money, or the tolerant neighbours to own the larger old tube amps. NO EQ, no gain, just an on/off switch and a volume knob means the "Sweet Baby" is so simple to set up, that all you have to do is plug in, turn it on and play!

Three Tube Stage Design
Remarkably, this little 5W Class A has three a three tube stage design, that takes the place of all the EQ and other dials and complex circuitry usually found on guitar amps. Instead, this amp, loaded with a single 8" Celestion Eight 15 G8C-15 speaker, relies on the 12AX7 at the pre-amp stage, a 6V6GT tube in the power section and a 5AR4 in the power supply to produce the old school amp tones.

The Volume Knob
Just like the old amplifiers of the 50's and 60's, the JOYO Sweet Baby simply has one Volume Knob as its only source of control. Keeping the volume low will produce nice, smooth clean tones, whilst turning the volume knob up, will increase the "dirtiness", by overdriving the tubes in the amp, producing that wonderful old amp distortion similar to those you would hear in the 60's.

Great amp

By: James on 23 December 2022
Stumbled across this little amp while searching for low wattage valve combos. Phenomenal value and regardless of price just a great amp. 8 inch speaker handles guitar frequencies perfectly fine. To get the tubes singing and a bit of sparkle it's still quite loud. Finish of amp is great with no defects. Great customer service prior to purchase and shipped same day. Thank you for the team and great product!

Joyo JTA-5 amp

By: Adam Cunningham on 27 July 2022
This is a fantastic amp at an unbelievable price. It sounds great, on par if not better than a Fender Champ reissue I had some years ago. The Celestion 8” speaker makes a big difference to the tone - nice defined bottom end and the highs are not ‘ice picky’. It is perfect as a practice amp and takes pedals well. Worth every cent.

SweetBaby

Great amp for low cost...great natural fender like tone.. Plenty of head room so it takes all 14 of my pedals really well...Hard to find a fault giving the affordable cost

A little beauty!

By: Anonymous on 1 April 2021
All valve amp with an 8# Celestion speaker means that it sounds smooth and mellow. Turn up the volume and it breaks up nicely. Whack a distortion pedal in line and it CRANKS! You could even use it in a band rehearsal in a pinch if the drummer isn't really going for it. Bottom end is a bit lacking as you would expect from an 8" and the speaker needs to be aimed at your ears to get the highs. $250 is a bargain! All in all, a fantastic practice amp!

Great amp. Great business.

By: Paul on 25 March 2021
This little amp is fantastic. The build quality and sound is really impressive, especially considering the price. Pedals sound superb through it - I'm hearing subtle sounds in my pedals I never heard through my other amps. I was worried that without an effects loop it might be muddy but it isn't all. This amp exceeded by expectations. Customer service by Swamp as always was exemplary. Thanks to all involved.

Excellent little amp

This is my third one.. My friends keep. Begging to buy them from me.. I play acoustic with a little electric... Acoustically it's beautifully clean with a hint of valve tremolo that some amps give and which I like tremendously... Electric guitars go from clean to raunchy and everything inbetween very very well indeed.. Buy one they are the best small valve amps out there.. And I have tried most of them..

good quality cheap tube amp

I don't know how closely the JTA-05 follows the original Fender Champ but it is a well built unit and behaves exactly as you would hope. Surprising how loud a 5 Watt amp can get!

Big tone Small volume

By: Mark on 14 September 2017
This amp has all the tone of the big valve amps i have giged with for years but with a fraction of the volume. It still has enough volume to do smaller café or bar gigs but sounds great at more house friendly volumes. It really does sound Fenderish.

Great Little Amp

By: Anonymous on 21 June 2017
Bought this with the May Madness deal. Didn't really need another small tube amp, but so glad I got it. This is a fantastic sounding little amp and blew a couple of my other small tube amps out of the water. If all Joyo amps are like this, they should do fantastically well. Has me wandering about the Bantamp series now. Oh and fast service and delivery too. Top Marks, 5 stars all round

Great little amp - robust.

By: Anonymous on 20 December 2016
Higlhy rate this unit. Has the fender champesque type of sound with some good clean headroom and very useful grit. This is playing through passive pickups and a humbucker. Very sturdy amp from the controls to the case. I'd have no hesitation mikeing this up at small - medium gigs. I really dig this amp. Joyo products have really stepped up in the quality stakes and this is no different. Let's hope they continue to remain competitive and not overpowered by greed like some other brands that unsurprisingly haven't lasted. ange

Great value Fender Champ clone

By: Tom on 31 October 2016
If you haven't figured it out, this is a very affordable clone of the well known Fender Champ (5F1) amp. All tubes, it has the simplest design with only one volume control. It sounds great but you have to accept its limitation. At 5W it is still too loud for bedroom playing if you want a natural breakup sound. On stage it could be the opposite, you'll never get it to be loud and clean but then again most people who bought tube amp are probably not looking to play clean.

A great little tube amplifier with low gain and high gain inputs. This amp is LOUD, I haven't turned the volume up past 4 yet and that was too loud for bedroom playing. It sounds great by itself, but also sounds great with pedals - running some overdrive really gets a great sound out of the amp. Whilst it's a combo amp, it's easy to plug in an external cab - just unplug the inbuilt speaker and plug in your own cab in the correct output. That said, the speaker it comes with sounds great, and gets a very loud and clear sound. The interface is as simple as it gets - two inputs (for high or low gain) and a volume knob. If you want high gain at lower volumes, an overdrive or tubescreamer is recommended. Best value tube amp anywhere near this price.
