TASCAM’s very foundation was based on how to use the latest technology to benefit the musician and the recording studio. It started as a research and development group in 1971 in Japan, within the visionary TEAC Corporation, researching the use of TEAC’s recording technology, delivering solutions from budget conscious musicians wanting to record, through to premier recording studios and live performance installations.

Historic Brand
There are many products that TASCAM have manufactured which have hit legendary status, inspiring new lines of solutions. A glance at some of their inventions show the depth and range of the development of this brand. Many musicians over the age of 40 would have had first hand experience with a portastudio, released in 1979, the world's first 4 track recorder based on a standard cassette tape. After developing many reel to reel recording machines for studios, the release of the portastudio changed everything, as multi-track recording became available to a huge number of musicians. Bruce Springsteen used it to record his famous “Nebraska” album. TASCAM then released the first portastudio to run on batteries, the world’s first multitrack recorder using the minidisc format, and world’s first 24bit 8 track hard disk recorder.

Portable Recording Specialists
Also developing the first DAT tape recorders, TASCAM became very well known for the quality of their portable audio recorders as well. Their current range of portable recorders include audio and video multitrack and wi-fi models which utilise iOS and Android platforms. They also have an extensive range of audio devices, including complex multiple I/O preferred in professional studio setups right through to single and dual input devices for the project studio.

Multi-track, Multi-Format Digital Recroding
TASCAM has also developed a large range of multiformat recorders for the installation and contract market, with these high quality units found in theatres, schools, churches and studios.

TASCAM for Music Education
In aiding the education of the musician, TASCAM have developed guitar, bass, and vocal trainers, which allow time and pitch stretching, MP3 and looper features. These tools are an excellent example of the mission of TASCAM - using the latest technology to benefit the musician.

Quality Audio Interfaces
Continuing their support of the home recordist, TASCAM now offer a range of high quality yet affordable USB multi-track recording interfaces and iOS interfaces.
