Synthetic core strings mimic the warm, complex character of traditional gut without gut's sensitivity to temperature and humidity, while rope core designs add flexibility and a smoother feel under the fingers.

What notes are the four cello strings tuned to?
A cello has four strings tuned in perfect fifths: C, G, D and A, from lowest to highest. A full cello string set includes all four, and replacing them as a matched set keeps tension and tone balanced across the instrument. If a string sounds dull, feels rough or will not hold its tuning, it is due for replacement.
What is the difference between steel core and synthetic core cello strings?
Steel core strings are bright, responsive and very stable in tune, making them ideal for students. Synthetic core strings sound warmer and more complex, closer to traditional gut strings, and suit players chasing a richer tone.
Will these strings fit my cello?
Our Alice sets are made for full size 4/4 cellos, the standard for most adult players. If you play a smaller fractional size cello, such as 3/4 or 1/2, check string lengths carefully before ordering, as 4/4 sets are designed for full size instruments.
