Stage Lighting

Stage Lighting Equipment

Stage lighting is the rig of LED par cans, moving heads and wash lights, controlled over DMX, that colours and illuminates a stage for theatre, live music and events.

Light the stage with LED par cans, moving heads and wash lights, backed by DMX control and cabling. LED stage lights run cool, draw less power and deliver vivid colour without gels or lamp changes.

About Stage Lighting

Stage lighting creates the atmosphere for theatre, dance, live music and event productions while giving performers clear, controllable illumination. Modern rigs are built around LED stage lights: par cans for colour washes, moving heads for dynamic effects and wash fixtures for broad coverage, all controllable over DMX. LED technology has replaced hot, power-hungry par cans and colour gels, running cooler, cheaper and safer.

Every fixture needs signal and power. Run control from your lighting desk with DMX cables, connect mains power through powerCON connectors and keep the rig organised with power products. Building out a complete live rig? Match your lighting with sound from our speakers and amplifiers range.

Stage Lighting FAQs

What stage lights do I need for a small venue or band?

A handful of LED par cans covers the essentials, providing colour washes over the performance area. Add moving heads for dynamic effects or a spotlight to pick out the lead performer as the budget allows, and a DMX controller to run scenes and chases from one spot.

What is DMX and do I need it?

DMX is the standard control protocol for stage lighting, letting one controller set the intensity, colour and movement of every fixture in the rig over daisy-chained cables. Many small LED fixtures also offer standalone and sound-activated modes, so you can start without a controller and add one later.

Are LED stage lights better than traditional par cans?

For most users, yes. LED stage lights run far cooler and draw a fraction of the power, mix colours electronically instead of using gels, and last for tens of thousands of hours without lamp changes.
