About Mixer Cases
The mixing console is the keystone of any PA system and often its most valuable single piece, so it makes sense to keep it protected in transit, especially in a mobile rig. Mixer cases come in a range of sizes, styles and materials to suit the many types of audio mixer, with the two common designs being lightweight ABS moulded cases and road case style laminated plywood with aluminium extrusions.
Many mixer cases include shock absorbing foam to cradle the console, while others are fitted with 19" rack ears. If your mixer is rack-mountable, a rack case may be the better fit. How do I choose the right case for my mixer?
Measure the width, depth and height of your console, including knobs, faders and rear connectors, then allow a little clearance for foam. If your mixer has rack ears or a rack kit, a 19" rack case sized to its rack unit height is often the neatest solution.
What is the difference between an ABS case and a plywood road case?
ABS moulded cases are lighter and more affordable, suiting weekend gigging where the mixer travels in your own vehicle. Laminated plywood cases with aluminium extrusions and reinforced corners are the heavier duty choice for touring and freight.
Can I get a case for a mixer that is not listed?
