A power conditioner is an essential addition to any home recording studio. A power conditioner offers surge protection and noise filtering which is integral when using expensive and sensitive gear. Although you can buy a $30 power board with surge protection built in, you have to remember its worth $30 and do you really want all of your gear in the hands of a cheap piece of plastic?

A power conditioner also filters unwanted noise created by inconsistencies of electrical flow in the circuit. You may notice this when turning on another piece of equipment in another room while watching TV or listening to music, it will create a static picture or sound briefly while the current is drawn to that area of the circuit. Although these surges and small electrical noises might not be all that noticeable in other applications, it is simply put not acceptable to have these interferences whilst recording audio.

Installing a power conditioner into your setup will improve the quality of recording you produce and equally important, it will protect all that gear you have spent so much time and money on.
