Artist AS78 Bound Burl HSS ST Style Electric Guitar
The Artist AS78 lays a dark-stained burl veneer top over a bound, bookmatched mahogany body, then matches it with a burl pickguard and burl headstock, black hardware and high-grade brass saddles for a smoky, brooding look that stands apart on any rack. Underneath the looks is a serious player: a quarter-sawn roasted maple neck, 22 stainless steel frets, a bone nut, premium locking tuners and an HSS set of high-end Alnico V pickups - two vintage-output single coils and a hot bridge humbucker - for everything from chiming cleans to chunky riffs.
Burl Top, Black Hardware
The dark brown stain shades the burl figure towards near-black at the bound edges, and the matching burl pickguard and headstock tie the whole instrument together. Black hardware, black locking tuners with white buttons and brass tremolo saddles complete a premium finish that looks as good on stage as it does on the wall at home.
Roasted Maple Neck, Stainless Steel Frets
The AS78's quarter-sawn roasted maple neck has an ultra-smooth satin nitrocellulose finish and a comfortable C profile, so it plays like butter straight out of the box. A dark rosewood fretboard suits the guitar's darker look, and its 14 inch radius allows a super low action and effortless bends. The 22 medium jumbo stainless steel frets resist wear far better than nickel, so a refret won't be needed for a very long time.
Alnico V HSS Pickups
Artist tested untold pickup options before settling on a set of vintage-output, high-end Alnico V single coils (6.94K neck, 6.93K middle) paired with a blistering hot Alnico V bridge humbucker (17.89K) - the best of both worlds. Through the 5-way switch it delivers gorgeous chiming, edge-of-breakup tones as well as glorious snarl and chunky riffage, and a copper foil shielded cavity helps keep unwanted noise down.
Every Detail Considered
A bone nut, a wheeled string tree, locking strap buttons and a classic tremolo with brass saddles are among the details that make the AS78 a dependable modern instrument. It comes strung with D'Addario 10-46s and includes an instrument cable, tremolo arm, truss rod and tremolo adjustment keys, picks and strap locks. A hard case is not included.
