For a microphone ideally designed for close positioning on parts of drum kits, it has also excelled in use for guitar cabs, brass, and even choirs. A versatile and accurate sounding condenser mic, the tapered grill allows for tight positioning. This is fantastic considering that this mic has a large diaphragm. For use predominantly in live situations, this mic will handle anything you throw at it.
Perfect for Instruments
Some engineers buy this mic specifically for snare drums, and rack and floor toms, especially as it is a side-address large-diaphragm mic. It is, however, incredibly versatile and also can be successfully used on guitar and bass cabs, acoustic guitars, brass instruments and percussion. Get two and they are ideal for choirs.
Switch and Pad
The AE3000 has a 10dB pad and a high pass filter (-12dB/octave @ 80 Hz), switchable from the mic body. This impacts the condenser capsule in the microphone.
