USB bus-powered and class compliant, it is a plug-and-play MIDI controller keyboard for home studios, mobile setups and first-time producers alike - and it ships with Bitwig 8-Track DAW software so you can start making music straight out of the box.
An Expressive Keybed You Can Adjust
The keys are a controller keyboard's most important feature, and the SE61's synth-action keybed is designed to be fun and expressive to play. All 61 keys are full-size and velocity-sensitive with a defined, firm feel that captures your dynamics and playing nuance. Because every player's touch is different, a choice of 4 velocity curves plus 3 fixed settings lets you match the keyboard's response to your style.
Hands-On Performance Control
Large pitch bend and modulation wheels with just the right grip and resistance handle expressive duties, while four buttons shift the keyboard up or down octaves (-3 to +4, with multi-colour LED status indicators) or transpose it +/- 12 semitones. The buttons can be reassigned to switch MIDI channels, change programs or select tracks and browse patches, and the 30mm fader is MIDI-assignable to filter cutoff, volume or any other MIDI CC parameter - with your assignments stored when the keyboard powers off. A 1/4" TS jack on the rear takes an optional footswitch for piano-style sustain.
Control Your DAW Without the Mouse
The SE61 works with any MIDI music software, and Nektar DAW Integration takes your workflow further: play, stop, record and rewind from the buttons' secondary transport functions, the selected track's volume always on the fader, and track or patch changes from the keyboard. Integration files are a free download once you register your controller, with support for Bitwig, Cubase, GarageBand, Logic, Nuendo, Digital Performer, Mixcraft, Reason, Reaper, Sonar and Studio One.
Plug In and Play Anywhere
USB class compliant, the SE61 needs no drivers - plug it into a USB port on your Mac, Windows or Linux computer and start playing, or connect to an iPad or iPhone with Apple's camera connection kit. It is fully USB bus-powered, and at just 3kg it moves easily between home, studio and stage. The included Bitwig 8-Track DAW delivers more than 50 instruments and effects across up to 8 audio or MIDI tracks, and supports any third-party VST plug-ins you own.
