This Donner Essential bundle pairs the Essential L1 analog monophonic synthesizer with the KB-32M 32-key synth-action keyboard, giving you a complete Snap2Connect (S2C) performance rig straight out of the box. Magnetically dock the KB-32M to the L1 for a classic SH-101 style instrument, or separate them for flexible desktop and live setups with powerful MIDI and hardware connectivity.
Complete Essential L1 synth rig
The Essential L1 delivers punchy analog basses, leads and sequences with a 3340 VCO, 3109 low-pass filter and 662 VCA, while the KB-32M provides a responsive 32-key synth-action keyboard with pitch and modulation touch strips, octave controls and a clear OLED display. Together they form a compact but powerful monosynth that is ready for everything from electronic and synthwave to film scoring and live performance.
Magnetic Snap2Connect ecosystem
Thanks to Donner's Snap2Connect (S2C) magnetic system, the KB-32M docks directly onto the Essential L1, passing power and MIDI without extra cables. The result is a unified front panel with the synth engine and controls on top and the keyboard below, with a feel reminiscent of classic 80s monosynths. As Donner releases more Essential series modules, the KB-32M can move between them, giving you an expandable and modular hardware ecosystem.
Analog tone with modern control
The Essential L1's 3340 oscillator offers saw, pulse, triangle, sub-oscillator and noise sources that can be mixed to create everything from solid bass foundations to bright, cutting leads. The 4-pole 3109 low-pass filter provides smooth sweeps and characterful resonance, while dual ADSR envelopes, a versatile LFO and DRONE mode open up deep sound design options. A built-in 64-step sequencer and performance arpeggiator let you sketch and perform patterns without a computer, making the kit ideal for DAWless setups.
Standalone MIDI controller and synth module
When you want a different layout, you can separate the two units and use them independently. The KB-32M becomes a compact USB and TRS MIDI controller for your DAW, soft synths and hardware modules, with 32 synth-action keys, four velocity curves and a dedicated hold pedal input. The Essential L1 works as a desktop synth module with MIDI over USB-C and 3.5 mm TRS, plus CV, gate and sync connections for modular and semi-modular rigs.
Flexible connectivity for studio and live setups
The L1 and KB-32M combination drops easily into almost any studio or stage layout. Use USB-C for MIDI to your computer, sequence the L1 from external gear, or run other instruments through the L1's external audio input to take advantage of its analog filter and VCA. With main and headphone outputs, MIDI I/O, CV and gate out, sync I/O and hold pedal support, this kit is equally at home on a crowded desk or in a live performance case.
