This nifty compact isolation shield reflection filter is ideal for providing critical isolation for recording mics, especially for spoken or sung vocals. The clever design of this unit provides a smartphone holder at the top, useful for access to lyrics.
Functional and Effective
A reflection filter will help create a "dry" vocal recording when using sensitive condenser microphones in a home studio where sound reflections and room noise are apparent. This a good idea for small rooms with hard surfaces and no acoustic treatment. A dry vocal signal is much easier to work on in post production. It is therefore vital to effectively diffuse acoustic waves surrounding the microphone, to stop them bouncing back toward the microphone, controlling the reflected sound waves that can cause colouration.
Adjustable Panels
It is easy to adjust the recording area depending on the situation as the 2 side panels are foldable. Pyramid shaped professional sound-absorptive foam reduces sound echo and maximises diffusion. The microphone mounting bracket is designed such that it can be moved forward or backward for the preferred signal. Surrounding the microphone more will reduce the ambient reverb in the recording, while pulling it away from the mic will let in more ambient reverb. This allows you to achieve the perfect balance suited to your room. The addition of a smartphone holder provides a method to display lyrics, or even to stream your performance!
