ART Pro MPA III Two Channel Valve Microphone Preamplifier
The Pro MPA III packs two channels of discrete Class A FET preamplification and genuine 12AT7 tube tone into a 2U rackmount enclosure. With up to 70 dB of gain, switchable tube or solid state voicing and variable input impedance, it is a serious upgrade over the built-in preamps on your mixer or audio interface for vocals, instruments and full session tracking.
Multivoice: Tube or Solid State
New in version III, the Voice switch on each channel selects between a warm tube signal path and a clean solid state path, so the same unit can add vintage thickness to a vocal or stay transparent for acoustic sources. The Character switch enhances low and high frequencies to compensate for the non-linearity of microphone transformers, improving vocal intelligibility without reaching for an EQ.
Variable Impedance for Any Microphone
The input impedance control sweeps from 600 ohms to 80k ohms, a significantly wider range than earlier models. Loading a dynamic or ribbon microphone at different impedances changes its tonal character, turning the Pro MPA III into a creative tool: darker and thicker at low settings, open and airy as you sweep up.
Studio-Ready Connections
Each channel accepts an XLR microphone or 1/4" instrument signal through the front panel Hi-Z input, with variable gain, low cut filter and output level, plus switches for a 20 dB boost, phase invert and 48V phantom power. Balanced XLR and 1/4" outputs run at selectable +4 dBu or -10 dBV, and the universal internal power supply works anywhere in the world.
