The Pro VLA has been ART's secret weapon for over two decades - the cult classic Tape Op called "one of the best compressors ever made at its price point". The Pro VLA III continues that tradition: a two channel optical compressor with genuine 12AT7 tube character that smooths individual tracks or glues a full mix together, in dual mono or linked stereo.
Multivoice: Tube or Solid State
New in version III, the Voice switch selects between a warm tube signal path and a clean solid state path to match your source material. Version III also extends the ratio range down to 1.25:1 for subtle, mastering grade gain control, and brings more headroom, lower background noise and improved channel symmetry in linked stereo mode than earlier models.
Musical Optical Compression
The fixed input, variable threshold opto design responds musically to program material rather than clamping it, which is why VLA compressors have earned a place across countless mix buses. Variable threshold, ratio, attack and release controls set the behaviour precisely, while simultaneous input, output and gain reduction metering keeps every stage visible.
Connections
The rear panel offers balanced XLR and 1/4" inputs and outputs with selectable +4 dBu or -10 dBV operation, and each channel has an independent bypass. A universal internal power supply completes a robust, all analog unit ready for any studio.
