Cheap AKG clones with issuesBy: Anonymous on 21 November 2019I've been using these alongside K240 for few weeks now. They are AKG K240S style headphone clones with boomy bass and piercing trebles - extra foam didn't help much. I don't mind the build quality. The drivers are not matched though. There's a clear balance issue when doing a frequency sweep test. The right side dominates between 20Hz-100Hz - which is quite annoying - but then goes to centre. The same thing happens again around 9-10KHz. The left driver has resonance rattle between 20Hz-50Hz on higher volumes. Nothing was touching the driver membrane when I checked. Useful for monitoring only (or modding).
iSK HP-980By: Steve on 25 April 2019Great service by Swamp AAA+++ The headphones are terrible. Unbelievably, unbearable bright. Sounds like they have pre-emphasis...for a better description. I never believed in burn-in, but they improved a lot after about 50-hours...but they're still terrible. Regards Steve
Good HeadphonesBy: Andrew on 6 April 2017Bought these to use with my Yamaha THR10. They sound great and are super comfortable because they're so lite. I'm really pleased with them.
Broke after a year of taking really good care of tBy: Olivia on 17 June 2015Broke after a year of taking really good care of them. Right earpiece stopped working. For the price I expected them to last a little more than a year. :( SWAMP: Apologies for the issue and thanks for the feedback. It's not a common problem and is likely just to be an issue with the cable, we will contact you directly about providing a replacement or refund. We will also investigate our current stock and follow up with the manufacturer to make improvements.
By: Donald on 20 November 2014I bought these on a punt off a Swamp eBay auction and paid much less than list price. I thought that I might use them for a while and maybe sell them on for a bit of profit or pass them on to my son to use. Wrong. These are keepers. I already have AKG K271s and yes, the AKGs are better than the the HP-980s but as others have mentioned, the differences between the two headphones in terms of sound quality are more one of colouration. The AKGs are as flat as piss on a plate; the HP-980s have a bit of a disco smile. The HP-980s come with ear pads that scream out "upgrade me!" though thankfully they also come with two discs of foam to install over the drivers to dampen the shrill highs that are a bit overdone. This is a thoughtful and in my mind necessary inclusion. There are other differences too; the AKGs are much better made but they should be at almost three times the price. If I only had one set of headphones (God forbid) and they were these HP-980s, I wouldn't feel too hard done-by. I am very glad I bought them, and Swamp shipping was VERY fast.
