Traditionally associated with the pacific islands (Hawaii in particular), the Ukulele is a small nylon-stringed guitar-shaped instrument that has long been a feature of folk, traditional and pop music. Ukulele strings are generally 4 to a set, with the the 4th string being pitched between the first and second, similar to a banjo. Songs like "Tip-Toe Through The Tulips", "Ukulele Lady" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" have been recorded and performed many times using this wonderful, mellow toned instrument. While a concert ukulele is often the preferred size for professional ukulele players, a soprano is the ideal choice for players with smaller hands or beginners. For the more experimental player, deeper voiced baritone and tenor ukulele's are also available.
