Audiocenter Powered Speakers, Explained: How to Choose Between the GT, MA and L Series

Synopsis: Audiocenter's powered range splits into three families - the pro-grade GT Active Series, the lightweight wireless MA12+, and the discreet L MK2 column systems. Here is how to pick the right one for your room, job and budget.
Audiocenter has quietly become one of the best-value names in powered PA. The catch for most Australian buyers is simple: it is not a brand you grew up seeing on stages, so it is hard to know where it sits and which model is actually right for you.
That is what this guide is for. Audiocenter's powered range splits into three families, each built for a different job and budget. Get the match right and you will spend less and end up with a speaker genuinely suited to your room. Below we break down each series, what it is good at, and when to choose it.
SWAMP has stocked Audiocenter for years, and the feedback from event, install and AV pros who have put them to work has been consistently strong - especially on the GT series.
One brand, three very different jobs
| Series | Best thought of as | Typical use | Cabinet | Bluetooth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GT Active | The pro-grade flagship | Live sound, install, Pro AV, DJ, monitors | CNC birch ply + polyurea | No (pro wired I/O) |
| MA (MA12+) | The lightweight, Bluetooth-ready all-rounder | Weddings, meetings, houses of worship, portable, DJ | Polypropylene composite | Yes, + TWS stereo pairing |
| L MK2 (L83 / L65) | The discreet column-and-sub system | Installs and venues, ceremonies, restaurants | CNC wood (column + sub) | Yes |
GT for maximum output in a traditional box. MA for lightweight, Bluetooth-ready, grab-and-go simplicity. L for discreet, elegant, even room coverage.
GT Active Series - pro-grade sound and build, without the pro invoice
If you want one line: the GT Active Series is pro-grade sound and build at a fraction of the pro-brand price. It is the range we point serious buyers to when they are cross-shopping the likes of QSC, Electro-Voice and RCF.
Every GT is a powered (active) full-range speaker - amplifier and DSP built in, so you add power and a signal and you are done. The range is engineered around Audiocenter's BrainCore DSP platform, developed by a European R&D team, and it shows in the three places that matter:
Proper 48kHz / 24-bit DSP
FIR filtering handles EQ, phase correction, delay and limiting, with separate limiter protection for the high and low drivers - so you can push it hard without cooking a driver.
Class D, 2200W peak
A lightweight, efficient Class D amp fed by a switch-mode power supply: 1100W RMS / 2200W peak on a universal 100-240V supply.
Real wood, polyurea skin
CNC-machined birch plywood with a waterproof polyurea coating - not moulded plastic. Wood sounds warmer and tighter, and the coating shrugs off gig and install life.
The range - pick your size
| Model | Woofer | Max SPL | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GT508A | 8" | 125 dB | Compact fill, foldback, tight spaces, speech | $637.49 |
| GT510A | 10" | 130 dB | Versatile all-rounder, small-to-mid PA | $722.49 |
| GT512A | 12" | 134 dB | The workhorse - mains for most gigs and installs | $849.99 |
All three share the same DNA: a 1.75" voice-coil compression driver on a 90° x 60° rotatable horn, the CNC-wood cabinet, dual-angle pole mount (0° or 10°), and fly points for install. The GT512A is the sweet spot for most people - enough output and low-end reach for the majority of gigs and venues, and it pairs beautifully with a sub. Drop to the 510A or 508A for foldback, fill or smaller spaces. (There is also a 15" GT515A in the family - talk to us if you need the bigger box.)
Three presets, tuned for real jobs
The GT has three factory DSP presets you recall from the back panel - and they are the reason one box covers so many jobs:
MAIN
The flat, full-range voice for live music and general PA. Also your stage monitor setting - the 512A makes an excellent floor wedge thanks to the cabinet's monitor angle.
SPEECH / LF BOOST
On the 508A and 510A, SPEECH rolls off the low end and lifts the vocal range for clear, intelligible talks. On the 512A, LF BOOST does the opposite - extra kick for DJ and club use.
W/SUB
Correctly phase-aligns the top box for use with an Audiocenter subwoofer, so the crossover region stays tight instead of smeared.
Why the value stacks up
Same 12" active class, and the GT512A digs deeper and plays louder than the usual suspects, in a wood cabinet, for well under their price:
| GT512A | QSC K12.2 | EV ELX200-12P | RCF ART 912-A | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Max SPL | 134 dB | 132 dB | 130 dB | 130 dB |
| Low-frequency reach | 45 Hz | 50 Hz | 51 Hz | 50 Hz |
| Cabinet | CNC wood + polyurea | ABS plastic | Polypropylene | Polypropylene |
| Typical AU price | $849.99 | ~$1,800 | ~$1,500 | ~$1,600 |
Competitor figures are typical AU street prices as at July 2026 and move around - check current pricing when comparing.
Choose the GT Active Series if...
You want pro-grade output, a wood cabinet and DSP flexibility for live sound, install, Pro AV, DJ or monitoring - and you are cross-shopping QSC, EV or RCF but want far better value. The workhorse.
MA12+ - the lightweight, Bluetooth-ready all-rounder
If the GT is the pro's workhorse, the MA12+ is the easy option - the one you grab when you want good sound up and running in a minute, without carrying a heavy box or plugging in a mixer.
The MA12+ is a powered 12" speaker in a custom-moulded polypropylene composite cabinet - light (just 16kg) and clean-looking, where the GT trades weight for wood. It runs the same BrainCore DSP platform (48kHz sampling, Class D amp, 800W RMS / 1600W peak) with the full protection suite built in.
The headline feature is Bluetooth: stream straight from a phone or laptop, and with TWS (True Wireless Stereo) you can pair two MA12+ units as a proper left-right stereo pair with no signal cable run between them (each speaker still plugs into mains power). Alongside that you get a combo XLR / 6.35mm jack input, a 3.5mm aux input, and a mixed XLR output to link another speaker.
MA12+ at a glance
- Max SPL: 125dB continuous / 131dB peak
- Frequency response: 50Hz - 20kHz
- Drivers: 12" woofer + 1.75" compression driver, 90° x 60°
- Presets: MUSIC, FLAT, SPEECH, W/SUB
- Inputs: combo XLR/jack, 3.5mm aux, Bluetooth · Output: mixed/balanced XLR
- Cabinet: 16kg polypropylene composite, 45° monitor angle, pole mount and fly points
- Price: $494.99
Choose the MA12+ if...
You want the lightest, most affordable, most convenient option - Bluetooth streaming (and TWS stereo pairing), simple setup and easy carrying - for weddings, meetings, houses of worship, background music or budget DJ work. The easy option.
L MK2 column systems - even, elegant coverage without the big black box
Sometimes a big black box is the wrong look. For a wedding, a restaurant, a house of worship or a smart function room, you want sound that fills the space evenly without a PA stack dominating the room. That is exactly what the L MK2 column systems do.
Each L MK2 system is a plug-and-play kit: a slim passive column speaker on top of an active, DSP-controlled subwoofer (the amplifier and processing live in the sub). Assembly is tool-free, one preset button gets you going, and the streamlined column blends into almost any decor.
The clever part is the acoustics. The column's many small drivers, arranged with Audiocenter's Phycal (physical calibration) and ETE waveguide technology, throw sound wide horizontally (110°) but tightly controlled vertically (10°) - so more energy reaches the audience and less is wasted on the ceiling and floor. The result is even, clear coverage from front row to back, which is why columns are a favourite for reverberant rooms and speech.
Both systems run BrainCore DSP at 96kHz, a Class D amp (2000W RMS / 4000W peak), CNC wood cabinets, and built-in Bluetooth.
Two systems - pick by room size
| System | Column | Subwoofer | Max SPL | Low end | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| L83 MK2 system | 8 x 3" + 2 x 1" | Dual 12" | 135 dB peak | 40 Hz | $2249.99 |
| L65 MK2 system | 6 x 5" + 4 x 1" | Single 18" | 137 dB peak | 35 Hz | $2949.99 |
- L83 MK2 is the lighter, more portable system - ideal for small-to-mid rooms, mobile setups and anywhere weight matters (the column is just 10.5kg).
- L65 MK2 brings bigger output and deeper low end (that 18" sub) for larger halls and rooms that need more level.
Dual (left-right) packs of both systems are also available - see the dual L83 pack and dual L65 pack.
Choose the L MK2 if...
You want a slim, elegant column instead of a big box, with wide even coverage for speech and music - ceremonies, restaurants, houses of worship, ballrooms, function venues. Go L83 for portability and smaller rooms, L65 for bigger rooms and deeper low end. The install-and-events system.
