Dynamic microphones only, mediocre robustnessBy: Georg Stoeger on 15 November 2017Works as expected, but with a few caveats. The positioning of the outgoing signal plug and the mic stand plug is unexpected (and the product image wasn't helpful in this respect). I expected the outgoing port to be directly opposite the microphone port, so that the cable extends into the same direction that it would if the adapter were not connected. Instead, the hole opposite the microphone port is intended to mount the adapter to the mic stand, and the cable goes off from the "side" port. The resulting angle between microphone and cable is somewhat awkward for hand-held use of the device. For mounting on a microphone stand, the positioning is fine. Instead of removing the black plastic cap to get access to the thread for the microphone stand, I carefully screw the cap deeper into the adapter, to keep the cables inside protected. I ordered two; one had a non-working switch. Opened it up to find that the switch had partly come apart, a mechanical problem; not hard to fix. However, this showed that the switch "OFF" position disconnects both leads instead of shorting 2+3; this leads to a substantial "thump" upon switching for phantom powered microphones. So I can only recommend for use with dynamic (or self-powered?) microphones, but not with phantom power. Robustness: The fairly flimsy switch construction will probably not survive a large number of on/off cycles. The thread to go onto the mic stand is plastic and will not withstand a large number of mounting/dismounting cycles. So this product, which I intended to use in a place where it would be used several times a day and primarily with phantom powered mics, will instead go into my "spare equipment for emergencies" case.

Not quite what I orderedBy: Jeff Elsloo on 2 December 2016The description for the item was that it had a threaded hole to go on the mic stand - but the hole was plugged and no threads. Dang. This product will work fine as a switch for mics with none, but won't attach to a mic stand. That's the reason I ordered this piece, as nobody makes anything like it in the states. Tough to return from middle America, so I guess I'll live with it. Better check the rest of your stock for this defect, fellows. SWAMP REPLY: Thank you for the feedback, it is highly valuable to us and we'll be looking into this issue. The thread is actually inside the unit, you just have to remove the plastic cap.
