Author: Cliff - Studio Owner & Music Producer I was looking for a USB Studio Condenser microphone that I could use with my laptop and record my clients outside of the studio. After searching the Internet I found Swamp Industries had the iSK CRU-1 Studio Condenser for $150. The price was a bargain so I bought one and took it home to test.
The CRU-1 has a 16-bit A/D converter with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. Protecting the instrument’s capsule is a heavy-duty wire mesh and it comes in a sturdy box with shock mount. Installation was easy as I plugged it into a USB port and it quickly installed on Windows 7 without any drivers!
I used Audacity 1.3 for my recording and recorded spoken word and some singing. When I played back my recordings I was amazed at the full and rich sound characteristic of my expensive studio microphones!
The CRU-1 is exactly what I was looking for and now anyone requiring high quality, professional sound on their computer can record music or dialog by simply connecting to a standard USB port. Brilliant!

Author: Jordan iSK CRU-1 Microphone: I purchased this microphone for studio vocal recording and the occasional acoustic guitar recordings. Been after a large diaphragm condenser for a long time, but only record on PC so lack phantom power and most LDCs are expensive.
The price point is fantastic, and I almost had to buy this at the price ($90). Arrived in a very sturdy road case with an impressive shockmount, everything is top-notch construction. Was very simple to set up, plug and play and good to go.
The sound is phenomenal, easily on par with more expensive condensers, very warm clear bass and mids, and a bright, airy, crisp top end. Takes a LOT of sound pressure level, I have a loud voice but have no hope in hell of overloading the diaphragm.
The only negatives I found were that the included documentation is very poorly written (not that it matters, you don't need it) and that the microphone is the tiniest bit noisy, but a quick narrow cut right on 3k will silence that completely.
